对于决定土冻胀初始条件的临界含水量国内外许多研究者都有过论述。苏联学者B·O·奥尔洛夫等在《土的冻胀及其对建筑物的影响》一书中对此作过详细介绍。认为决定冻胀临界含水量W κρ值的结合水数量qc对某一土类应该是一个常数,它决定于单位体积里矿物颗粒(或它的团粒)的数目: W κρ=qc(γκρ).奥尔洛夫还利用所谓“比较水层厚度法”给出了W κρ的计算公式;
Many researchers at home and abroad have discussed the critical moisture content that determines the initial frost heave condition. The Soviet scholar B.O. Orlov and his colleagues described this in detail in his book “Frozenness of Soil and Its Impact on Buildings.” The amount of bound water qc, which determines the critical moisture content W κ p of frost heave, should be a constant for a certain soil class, which depends on the number of mineral particles (or its granules) per unit volume: W κρ=qc(γκρ). Orlov also uses the so-called “comparative water layer thickness method” to give the formula for W κ ρ;
