本文认为民主观念起源于西方,在最初为西方文明所独有,在晚近之后才开始普世化之历程。在此基础上,探讨了民主观念普世化的原因:一方面是工业化带来的社会经济结构的转变和趋同化这个物质基础;另一方面是网络在这一二十年的普及提供了民主观念迅速传播的路径。
This paper argues that the concept of democracy originated in the West and was originally unique to Western civilization and began its universalization only after its recent history.
