Soybean iron deficiency chlorosis is a problem in soils with high pH in the northern United States, and those soils are also considered to contain large amounts of lime, alkaline or calcium. Due to the expansion of the area planted with soybeans, iron deficiency chlorosis has become a very noteworthy issue. The total area of all types of soils that cause iron-deficiency chlorosis in Minnesota and Iowa is about 1.8 million mu and it is estimated that 500,000 mu of soybean will be planted on these soils annually. Iron deficiency chlorosis is most prevalent in the soil of C1ar-ion-Nicollet-Webster in the central and northern United States, and in some other parts of the country that have not been seriously affected.
