《福谷传奇》是霍桑以1840年代布鲁克农场为原型,创作的一群知识分子在美国工业化过程中试图创造一个理想社会的故事。小说用细腻的笔触描写了在城市化进程中,人与自然关系的微妙变化,并且表达了作者对于社会改革的怀疑态度。作者的这种思想对于社会的发展和革新都有一定的借鉴意义。本文就从《福谷传奇》这一作品来分析了作者霍桑的政治观念。
“Legend of Fugu” is a story that Hawthorne tried to create an ideal society in the process of industrialization in the United States by a group of intellectuals that Hawthorne argues from the Brook Farm in the 1840s. The novel uses delicate brush strokes to depict the subtle changes in the relationship between man and nature in the process of urbanization and to express the author’s skepticism about social reform. The author’s ideas for the development and innovation of society have some reference value. This article analyzes the author’s conception of Hawthorne’s political work from the “Legend of Fugu”.
