从文化发展的历史考察,编辑发展成为一门社会职业,存在着长期的历史演变过程。直言之:编辑的存在是文化发展与文化建设的需要。从“深义的”文化观①、文化史观、文化缔构观②审视编辑和编辑活动,充分肯定编辑自取得独立的社会角色以来,在文化建设中的自主地位,导向作用、监控职责和创新活力,正确评价编辑在文化建设中的特殊地位和作用,这对当今有中国特色社会主义的文化建设,有重要意义。
