The Yellow River is famous for the Dousha River, the estuary is a typical weak tidal continental mouth. The estuarine siltation extension, swing diversion and the overall trend of siltation of the Yellow River delta coast are the basic laws of the coast evolution under the condition of the current Yellow River water and sediment. In our opinion, in the long term, the construction of a port on the coast of the Yellow River Delta will eventually be flooded by the seaward advance of the delta coast and the siltation of sediment. Therefore, it is not appropriate to build a permanent deep-water port on the coast of the Yellow River Delta. However, for a certain period of production needs, it is possible to use the Yellow River’s human sea flow path to build a medium-water port of a certain useful life under certain conditions that can be artificially controlled. Due to the dramatic erosion and deposition in the Yellow River Delta coast and the seabed along the coastal sediments, it is difficult to maintain deep seaports and watercourses without cover. Therefore, it is not appropriate to construct large-scale deep-water ports. The construction of the port should give full consideration to the relationship between the exploitation of the offshore oil fields and the planning of the Yellow Sea, and should minimize the adverse effect of the port on the natural balance of the coast and provide reasonable and effective protection of sediment deposition.
