18年来,茂名市老区建设促进会致力于促进老区的经济发展和文化建设,风雨兼程,业绩昭著。除了配合省老区建设促进会完成全省统一部署的老促会工作,诸如大力解决老区人民上学、行路、看病、饮水、通电等“五难”问题以外,茂名市老区建设促进会锐意创新,根据老区的实际情况,在老区扶贫基金的筹集和增值上,闯出了一条可持续发展的新路。以此为基础,将老区扶贫基金投入到“智力扶贫”以及“科技兴果”等关键项目上,在智力扶贫上实现了“培训一人,就业一人,脱贫一户”的目标,实实在在树人于老区的现在,造福于老区的未来。在科技兴果方面,他们在有限的人力物力条件下,积极配合茂名各级水果局,花小钱办大事,追求示范效应,达到了“点亮一盏灯,照亮一大片”的效果。茂名市老区建设促进会一切为老区人民着想,一切以老区建设发展为依归的工作方针,孜孜以求为老区人民谋福利的工作态度,大胆创新,勇于开拓的精神,以及因此而来的令人瞩目的成绩,让人敬佩,令人振奋,促人奋进。这正是多年来,作为改革开放的先行者,广东人民一直坚持的求真务实的精神的体现。也正是现在中央倡导在科学发展观的指导下,大力开展思想解放,坚持改革开放,加快实现和谐社会步伐的阶段性成果,为茂名老区今后的迅速发展奠定了良好的基础,对于广东其他地区甚或全国各地老促会的工作,很有借鉴意义。
