本文探讨了远程教育与开放教育的内在关系,着重以我国广播电视大学和英国开放大学的实践为分析对象,阐述了我国广播电视大学的本质特征即开放性,认为只有全方位的开放,现代远程教育这一新兴的教育模式才会有强劲的生命力和广阔的发展前景,才会体现出她的优越性和先进性,才会在社会发展中显示出她的重要价值和作用。同时,指出了目前我国广播电视大学的名称所导致的实践中的盲点,及其应具有的符合其本质特征的名称。
