Twenty-fifth chapter world football Founded in 1960 Britain’s “World Football” magazine is Britain’s oldest and most prestigious football monthly. Prior to FIFA’s introduction of the official World Footballer in 1991, World Footballer of the Year ranked the world’s most influential annual selection of the best football player of all time. Each year, “World Soccer” ranks the world’s best footballers by their readers and is announced worldwide. In 1994, Paul Maldini became World Footballer of the year named by World Soccer. In this selection, Paul won 27% of all votes. Ranked second in the Italian team’s other World Cup hero Roberto Baggio, he won 23% of the vote.
