Oriental Uxandra Nauclea orientalis L. grows in the tropical coastal areas of Papua New Guinea, Queensland (Australia), and Indonesia. Villagers in central Papua New Guinea use their bark as an analgesic for abdominal pain, animal bites, and other traumas. Australian indigenous people use their leaves as a traditional painkiller and poison agent. Phillipson et al. isolated the indox alkaloid angustine from the plant leaves using a classical alkaloid extraction method. The authors dehydrated the dried oriental ebony leaves with petroleum ether, extracted ethyl acetate at room temperature, and fractionated them by silica gel column chromatography. A part of them was divided into four parts by gel chromatography (Sophadex LH-20) methanol elution. . The main one
