The Panhandle Information Networ (PIN) network is a wide area network that covers 26 administrative regions in Southern Texas and is sparsely populated in the Panhandle region as compared to the eastern United States. PIN network services mainly include Texas 70 primary and secondary schools, universities, regional administration agencies and libraries. It will utilize ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and legacy TDM technology (Time Division Multiplexing). The entire network hopes to be able to offer cheaper Internet access services and video on demand services to remote villages. The videoconference provided by the PIN was originally used in distance training of primary and secondary school teachers. TV education has made it possible for one third of local teachers not to drive training courses from education centers in remote areas,
