从1928年丰子恺等人为上海《新女性》杂志撰写的文章提出到现在,“装帧”一词在中国一直沿用至今,也被相关行业所接受认同,许多部门和专业也以“装帧”命名,但是随着我国改革开放程度的加深,经济的进一步繁荣,书籍已经不象过去那样只有少数人拥有,而在知识经济爆发的今天,书籍已经成为大众生活中不可缺少的一部分。但是“装帧”一词让许多读者不懂或者简单的认为书籍装帧就是设计封面、封底、护封或插图。然而随着经济的发展和文化的进步,“书籍装帧”的称谓已经跟不上时代的变化和人们对书籍的理解。而书籍设计也叫书籍整体设计的观念则渐渐得到大家的认同。

However, with the economic development and cultural progress, the title of ”book binding" has not kept up with the changes of the times and people’s understanding of books. The concept of book design, also known as the overall design of the book, is gradually accepted by everyone.
