Chinese art circles have always attached importance to the issue of Chinese and Western cultures. In the modern age, with the gradual progress of Western learning and the eastward spread of Western paintings, they pose enormous challenges and influences to Chinese traditional painting. This challenge is seen as the fate of cultural subjects. Jun Wei is my same classmate, graduated from the Department of Printmaking. The study of traditional Chinese painting more than 20 years after graduation led him to realize that in the contemporary Western visual arts system, the subject of the East has always been regarded as a passive and anonymous object. And because of the economic and technological backwardness, it directly appears as a cultural “passive beating.” Although with the progress of “globalization ”, the identification of differences between Chinese and Western cultures appears to be shrinking on the surface, in fact there is a widening internal gap.
