Small satellite systems are of particular importance for the detection of global and regional geological faults, for the study of mineral resources and for the prediction of destructive earthquakes (volcanic eruptions). The first COMPASS satellite weighs about 80 kg and is scheduled to be launched on a circular orbit at a height of 400 km and a dip angle of 79 °. Through it, coordinated monitoring of precursors before earthquakes from the ground to the space can be realized, on the basis of which monitoring and forecasting methods for natural disasters can be developed. The following is a detailed description of the measurement, equipment and overall concept of the satellite system.
