中国台湾省产广义的宝石矿物有四种:①软玉(Nephrite俗称台湾玉),②透闪石猫眼石,③青玉髓,④文石。其中①、②两种产于台湾东部山区花莲县丰寿乡,生成于古生代—中生代之结晶片岩与蛇纹岩的接触带中。此接触带以透辉石矽卡岩及纤蛇纹石为主。伴生有厚1米以下纺锤状软玉集合体,及横切该集合体广小的宽2~5cm透闪石猫眼石的十字形纤维细脉。软玉呈暗绿至黄绿色,其中以带黄的绿色半透明者为优。硬度6.5,比重3.007~3.014,薄片观察系由细的不定向透闪石交织形成。猫眼石的原石(母矿)由以米黄色为主灰白色至暗灰色略成平行的透闪石纤维状集合体组成。圆顶磨琢(Cabochon cut)的宝石一般
There are four general types of gem minerals produced in Taiwan Province of China: ① Nephrite (commonly known as Taiwan jade), ② Tremolite cat’s eye stone, ③ Green chalcedony, ④ Aragonite. Among them, ① and ② are both found in Fengshou Township, Hualien County, in the eastern mountainous region of Taiwan, and are formed in the contact zone between Paleozoic-Mesozoic crystalline schist and serpentinite. This contact zone is dominated by diopside skarns and chrysotile. Accompanying with a spindle-shaped soft jade aggregate below 1 meter in thickness and a cross-shaped fiber veins transverse to the broad collection of 2 ~ 5 cm tremolite cat’s eye stone. Nephrite was dark green to yellow-green, with green translucent yellow is preferred. Hardness of 6.5, the proportion of 3.007 ~ 3.014, thin observation of the Department of thin interplacer not directional tremolite formed.
