Key components for cell phones and PDAs can be integrated onto a single chip! Intel announced on February 13 in Beijing the introduction of the Intel PXA800F handset processor. It is the industry’s first product to integrate GSM / GPRS baseband solutions, application processors and flash memory on a single chip. The PXA800F processor integrates an Intel XScale processor clocked at 312 MHz, 4 MB integrated flash memory, and 512K SRAM (static memory); a 104 MHz signal processor based on the Intel Micro Signal Architecture with 512 KB of Intel On-chip flash memory and 64KB of SRAM form a complete system for GSM / GPRS cellular networks on a single chip. The PXA800F uses a 0.13-micron manufacturing process that integrates all major components in one process on a single chip and supports multiple interfaces such as Bluetooth, Sony Memory Stick, USB, and more.
