客观世界存在的形体和人们创造的造型形体,都可以用线来表现。线一直是被人用来理解和表现对象特征的一种手段。在观察或欣赏陶瓷造型时,也是借助于轮廓线来认识并对不同形体的轮廓线有不同的感受。根据这种经验,在设计陶瓷造型时,也就自然注重形体的轮廓线,通过把握线与形体之间的关系,来创造新的造型。线在陶瓷造型设计中的应用主要有两方面:一是通过造型的轮廓线来构成形体;二是处理造型上具体的直观的线来加强造型的形式感。把设计构思的陶瓷造型形体表现出来,就需要具有理想的构成形态,外轮廓线是很重要的一个方面。同样,外轮廓线也决定着造型的基本形态,二者是相辅相成具有一定的因果关系。
