In water conservancy and electric power and industrial and civil construction projects, the pipes used to transport water, oil, and gas are currently made mostly of ceramic, metal, cement, or plastic. Heilbeier, a professor at Texas State University in the United States, recently invented a pipe made of seawater that was used in the construction of pipeline projects. The method of manufacture is: using a barbed wire to form a cylinder of a certain diameter and length, placing a lead pipe in the middle of the cylinder, and then applying a voltage of 10 to 100 volts to release the over-fitting device into the seawater. A few days later, a white substance will be automatically adsorbed on the wire mesh cylinder. When the white substance reaches a certain thickness, the lead pipe is drawn out, and it becomes a tightly-structured, water-tight, leak-free pipe, which can be directly used for the construction of the project. Tests have shown that the white substance absorbed on the wire mesh is magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate. Both of these substances are good building materials
