佑宁寺,藏语称“郭隆弥勒洲”,简称“郭隆寺”,位于青海省互助县威远镇东南35公里处,距离省会西宁约50公里的路程。历史上的佑宁寺是非常辉煌的,学经制度严格,高僧辈出,在蒙藏地区影响特别大,与夏琼寺、瞿坛寺、光辉寺并称为湟北四大名寺。该寺是由四世达赖喇嘛和四世班禅特派第七世嘉色活佛,在当地土族、蒙古、藏族信众的支持下于1604年开始修建,到清代康熙年间时,已有大小房屋两千余间,
