2003年4月至6月,首届“中国北京国际美术双年展”的各项筹备工作进入了更为紧张繁忙的阶段。4月23日,意大利文化中心主席、国际著名策展人、“北京国际美术双年展”海外策展人温琴佐·桑福(Vincenzo Sanfo)访华。6月11日至17日,“双年展”策划委员会召集人王镛、陶勤,国际联络组副组长刘中以及中国文联国际部工作人员出访意大利,考察了第50届威尼斯国际双年展,为北京双年展作了必要的宣传。6月底,北京双年展参展作品的初评工作顺利结束。
From April to June 2003, the preparations for the first “Beijing International Art Biennale” entered a period of more intense and intense work.
