美国《男人》、《传记》等媒体联合评选出美国文化的十大偶像。他们的评选标准是:只要提到他或她的名字,人们就会联想到美国;不管人们喜欢还是憎恨,在别国人的眼里,他们都代表着美国;只有真实的人有资格当选,文艺作品中的人物则无当选资格;当选者必须是“正宗”美国人,卓别林、施瓦辛格虽然对美国的影响很大,但他们都被排除在候选人之外。按照这些标准,最后的评选结果如下:
The United States’ “Man” and “Biography” media jointly selected the ten icons of American culture. Their selection criteria are: As long as he or she is mentioned, people will think of the United States; regardless of whether people like it or hate, in the eyes of other people, they all represent the United States; only the real people are eligible to be elected. The characters in the literary works are not eligible; the elected must be “authentic” Americans.
