Yushu County was hit by a natural disaster in 1955. In 1956, it suffered another serious flood at the end of the seventy years. More than half of its grain output was reduced. It was a hardest hit in our province. More than 80% of the students in Yushu came from rural areas, so it is more difficult. Aid scholarships and disaster relief fees are not enough to subsidize the full cost of living and studying for all students. As a result, more than 80 students in the spring of 1956 requested suspension from school. The school organized a work-study program in response to this situation. From April to July 1956, the labor income of the students totaled 2,785 yuan, equivalent to 62.7% of the grants for the semester and solved the difficulties of different levels (accounting for 20% of the students). In 1957, after giving farm grasses to the farmer, he added 4,775 yuan (equivalent to 41% of the school’s annual reimbursement fee) to the baskets for grain drying and the highest student income was 50 to 60 yuan. So in 1956 and 1957, the school basically did not leave because of financial difficulties. In addition, the students in the winter of 1956 picked up more than 300,000 catties of dung (enough for more than 200 mu) and in 1957 they seized more than 15,000 catties of grain to support agricultural bumper harvests through practical actions. Work-study program to solve the economic difficulties is only harvested on the one hand, the more important is to enable students to exercise, cultivate the hard-working style and solidarity and other ideological products. The school student said: "In me
