On December 11, 2001, China formally joined the WTO and became the 143rd member. In this regard, people are happy, the world attention, strong international and domestic repercussions. As the UN Director-General, Mr. Moore commented, China’s demise is an important milestone in the history of the World Trade Organization. Why should China join the WTO? This is a basic but the most profound issue. We believe that China’s accession to the WTO will not only be of economic and trade significance, but also of great political and diplomatic significance and will have an impact on China’s future economic development and social progress
