“Fireworks” is a television short film for kids that was shot by Japan’s famous director Shoji Iwai in 1993 for Fuji TV’s “IF...” series. With this film, Junji Iwai won the best new director of the Japan Film Association. The story is this: Primary school students and their peers debated a question about fireworks. In order to resolve this confusion, they plan to look at the summer fireworks display opportunity to see where the fireworks are. At the time, their classmate, Nagasawa, decided to leave home because her parents divorced. So they climbed up to the lighthouse on the night of the fireworks show. Unfortunately, when these teenagers finally reached the lighthouse, the fireworks show ended. Girls will also be transferred in the next semester for family reasons. At this time, a piece of fireworks suddenly bloomed... In the short film “Fireworks”, Iwai Shunji got rid of the prejudices in the traditional children’s film and television works, and portrayed the experience and emotions of people’s youth. Really natural.
