社会语言学中的“网络分析”(network analysis)自提出至今已近20年。20年来,这一分析方法及其理论价值引起了世界各地同行的重视。许多学者应用这一分析方法对一些语言的变异现象进行研究,获得了丰硕成果,同时也发展了“网络分析”的手段。中国可以说是社会语言学者的“伊甸园”,各种语料应有尽有。中国的社会语言学研究不仅可以为现有的理论模式提供更新、更有趣的佐证,而且还可能对现有的理论模式提出挑战。我们认为,任何科学研究方法都不应成为静止的经典(虽然不少社会语言学教科书已把“网络分析”描写为所谓经典)。我们与中国学者一样,相信“实践是检验真理的唯一标准”。
The “network analysis” in social linguistics has been nearly 20 years since its introduction. Over the past 20 years, this analytical method and its theoretical value have drawn the attention of colleagues all over the world. Many scholars apply this method to study the phenomenon of variation in some languages and have achieved fruitful results. At the same time, they have also developed the means of “network analysis.” China can be said to be the “Garden of Eden” for social linguists, with all kinds of corpora. Sociolinguistic studies in China not only provide newer and more interesting evidence for the existing theoretical models, but they may also challenge existing theoretical models. We do not think that any method of scientific research should become a static classic (although many sociolinguistics textbooks have described “network analysis” as the so-called classics). Like Chinese scholars, we believe that “practice is the sole criterion for testing truth.”
