由纽约中央公园东门出来,横穿曼哈顿中轴线第五大道,沿81街一直往东走大约两个街区,会在路口处看到一排白色水泥方块房子,正是1954年11月张爱玲造访胡适时的港式公寓,也是唐德刚说的破旧的大使级住宅区。白色公寓上方已加盖了四层赭色楼层,褐色大门被探出的枣红色风雨遮挡篷覆盖,篷侧面是白色英文字母:One Hundred Four.当年晒着张爱玲的太阳光此时此刻也晒着我,却没有使我产生时空交叠的恍惚感。屋是人非。里面不可能再有身着长袍的适之先生,和操安徽口音的江冬秀女士了。
