1949年夏天,我第一次见到生活简朴、平易近人的周恩来总理,当时在北京怀仁堂聆听总理作关于革命形势的报告。总理身上穿的衣服,和我们华北大学师生穿的是完全一样的粗布灰色制服,他那和蔼可亲的言谈仪表给我留下了深刻的印象。在报告中间休息时,总理还亲自担任指挥,并和我们同唱淮海战役捷报歌曲——“捷报,捷报,消灭了黄伯涛……”。全场热情沸腾,享受着总理带给我们的温馨和欢乐。不多会儿,战士们又送来了冰棍和汽水,总理和我们一同吃冰棍喝汽水,和大家谈心聊天,我丝毫没有感觉到他是一位中央首长给我们作报告。会场上的气氛真是水乳交融,热烈欢快。我和周总理数次见面,都给我留下亲切欣慰的感觉。记得总理来天津视察工作,晚
In the summer of 1949, I first met the simple and approachable Prime Minister Zhou Enlai at the time in Beijing’s Huai Ren Tang where I heard the Prime Minister’s report on the revolutionary situation. The clothes worn by the Prime Minister were exactly the same as those worn by our teachers and students at North China University in the rough gray uniforms.
