This paper is concerned with a block of petrified woods collected byMessers. C. S. Pien and H. H. Lee of the Geological Survey of China at thelocality Hulustai (about 106°4°E., 39°15′N.), northwest along the Alashanin the Ninghsia province, northern China. Like the great majority ofpetrified woods so far discovered in China, the specimen here treated is alsostrongly silicified. Several sections have been prepared. The preservationlenves much to be desired, but the character of the secondary wood isBufficiently well for determination. The pith is not preserved.
