英国小说家戴维·洛奇并不认同“作者之死”的作者观。他继承了英美作家在作品中表达作者声音的传统,通过写作创作随笔与读者交流。洛奇分别为传记小说《作者,作者》《风流才子》写了题为《亨利·詹姆斯年》《写作H.G.威尔斯》的两篇创作随笔。洛奇的创作随笔不仅回顾了传记小说的创作缘起与创作历程,还分析了传记小说的特色与价值,为传记小说这种混杂文类辩护,重申了作家与作品互证互释的关系,凸显了作者的主体性,反驳了“作者之死”的作者观,实现了作者的回归。
