黄赤波,湖北大冶人,1930年参加中国工农红军,1931年加入中国共产党,后参加二万五千里长征。1933年始,他就从事党和军队的保卫工作。解放后,黄赤波同志曾先后任苏南区党委委员,苏南行署公安局长,江苏省委委员,省公安厅厅长。1953年调上海,先后任上海市公安局副局长、局长、局党组书记,市委委员、市委常委。“文革”后任市政协副主席兼上海市人民检察院检察长等职。黄赤波同志为中国人民的解放事业和党的公安保卫工作献出了自己毕生的精力,他在上海市公安局的主要领导岗位上忠实履职十二个春秋。党和人民对这位政法保卫战线的老战士给予了应有的评价,他病逝后党和政府追授他为革命烈士。诚然,在人生长河中,由于时代的局限性和诸多因素会给他的脾性烙上鲜明的时代色彩,也会在他的社会活动中凸现出自己的性格特点,见智见仁,后人无须苛求。本刊推出这篇记录黄赤波同志工作生活片断的纪实文学作品,既不是树碑,也不是立传,仅仅是后辈缅怀先人,来者不忘已逝岁月而已。
