正常上皮细胞的生长与分化需要维生素A。维生素A缺乏将导致消化道、呼吸道和眼球表面杯状细胞数量减少和上皮细胞角化。重者可致眼干燥和角膜软化症。维生素A缺乏症已成为发展中国家儿童致盲的首要原因。直到近年此病唯一有效的治疗仍系全身给予维生素A。本文通过动物实验证实了全身给予维生素A治疗的同时局部点用维生素A_1或维生素A_1酸能更快地减轻角膜干燥症的角化并使之迅速透明。本文动物实验选用新西兰白兔(体重在半公斤以下),饲以缺乏维生素A之酪蛋白而造成实验性干眼病,3—4个月后每周行裂隙灯眼部检查,并将角膜病变进行分期,然后将它们分成四组、分别给予一眼点用0.1%或0.2%的维生素
