我场1964年开始配制玉米双交种维尔42,1966年又引入维尔156双交种和整套制种材料,当年种植维尔156共2,350亩,单产688斤,比未推广杂交种的1957年玉米亩产433.1斤,增产58.8%。从1966年开始全场实现了玉米杂种化,种植面积逐年扩大,产量逐年提高,1971年杂交玉米种植面积上升到12,119亩,平均单产610斤,玉米产量占粮食总产的31%,农五队种植的534亩,单产1,014斤,其中3.38亩高产田达到1,254.2斤,其他生产队也出现了不少大面积千斤以上的高产纪录。但是,一个优良品种经过几年种植以后,会发生混杂、退化、变劣等现象,尤其表现在亲本自交系上。据观察,维尔156四个亲本(157、158、133、64)出现以下现象:(1)植株生长不齐,株形和叶色不一;(2)果穗有大有小,秃尖严重,籽粒品质变劣;(3)成
