The development of replacing the common coke ovens - blast furnace - oxygen top blown converter technology is arousing the attention of world steelmaking experts. Another of these new process technologies has reached the level of Nissan 1000t. Because the direct steelmaking program developed by the U.S. Iron & Steel Institute-Energy Department (AISI-DOE) has started to use the first demonstration plant of Nissan Steel at 1000 t, this instrument covers the next major planned project. This article focuses on the most recent pilot phase of the program, and the key issue now is ironmaking. This is followed by a combination of both ironmaking and steelmaking, including some of the rationale for validation.
