Objective: To investigate the relationship between the body mass index of civil aviation pilots and blood fat and blood pressure. Methods: The parameters of body mass index, blood lipid and blood pressure of 266 male civil aviation pilots were collected. The relationship between body mass index and blood lipid and blood pressure was analyzed. Results: The body mass index of 266 pilots was (25.45 ± 2.75) kg / m2. There were 76 normal body weight, 141 super body mass and 49 obesity. The body mass index of each group were (22.29 ± 1.35) , (25.75 ± 1.07) and (29.52 ± 1.64) kg / m2, respectively. The levels of serum total cholesterol were (5.17 ± 0.86), (5.29 ± 0.86) and (5.63 ± 0.88) mmol / (1.93 ± 0.69), (3.09 ± 0.74) and (3.31 ± 0.76) mmol / L, respectively. The levels of high density lipoprotein Cholesterol were (1.40 ± 0.49), (1.25 ± 0.24) and (1.20 ± 0.23) mmol / L, respectively; systolic blood pressure was 115 ± 11, 120 ± 12, 126 ± 10 mm Hg, Respectively, (74 ± 7), (78 ± 9), (83 ± 6) mm Hg. The correlation coefficients of body mass index to total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were 0.179,0.350,0.175,0.260,0.355 and 0.374 (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The body mass index of pilots is closely related to blood lipids and blood pressure. Preventing overweight and obesity may reduce the incidence of heart and cerebrovascular related diseases in pilots.
