作物体内的微量元素含量一般为万分之几至十万分之几,虽然数量微小,但却是作物正常生活和生长所不可缺少的。微量元素有专一性,不能被其他元素所代替。例如,氮磷钾肥就不能代替微量元素肥料施用。作物缺乏微量元素会减少产量和降低品质,施用过量又会发生中毒现象。主要微量元素有钼、硼、锌、锰、铜等。有人将铁也列为微量元素,不过它在作物体内的含量并不太少,一般可达0.3%左右。
