In August 1997, the author went to Cadarache, France to attend the 1997 Rio Jody Reactor Summer Physics Symposium hosted by the French Atomic Energy Commission. Participants a total of 52, respectively, from 19 countries. The theme of the conference was “Modern Reactor Physics and Large Systems Simulation.” Six topics were discussed: a historical review of reactor physics calculations; three-dimensional neutron transport calculations; three-dimensional neutron physics thermomechanical coupling calculations; fuel management; dynamic reactor physical measurements; and material irradiation behavior. Retrospective review of the history of reactor physics calculations mainly discusses the production of nuclear cross-section library, calculation methods, verification and improvement of the room and necessity. The topic of three-dimensional neutron transport calculation focuses on the continuous improvement of the numerical solution of the three-dimensional neutron transport equation and its application in reactor physics design, radiation screen
