植物雄性不育的遗传现象人们早就发现了。随着把雄性不育用于农作物杂种优势利用的研究,才使雄性不育现象受到人们普遍地重视。关于雄性不育的遗传曾经有各种说法。希尔斯(Sears)在40年代总结了前人的说法,系统地提出把雄性不育的遗传划分为细胞核雄性不育、细胞质雄性不育和核质互作型雄性不育三类。认为这三种类型的雄性不育是由独立存在、遗传基础各不相同的育性基因控制的。
Plant genetic male sterility has long been discovered. With the use of male sterility for crop heterosis utilization research, male sterility has received universal attention. There have been various claims about the genetics of male sterility. In the 1940s, Sears summarized his predecessors and systematically proposed to classify the male sterile genera into three types: male sterile, cytoplasmic male sterile and male-sterile male-sterile. It is considered that these three types of male sterility are controlled by fertile genes that exist independently and have different genetic bases.
