江苏省太仓县位于长江下游南岸,东临长江口,南接上海市,西邻昆山,北靠常熟,全县人口44.1万。该县隶属苏州市领导,下辖24个乡镇,耕地面积65.4万亩,以种植水稻、棉花、油菜、三麦为主。1989年全县工农业总产值336400万元,农村人均分配1125元。大蒜是太仓县农副产品中的传统产品、拳头产品,种植历史悠久。党的十一届三中全会以来,太仓县大蒜种植面积不断扩大,1987年达到6.5万亩,占耕地面积的十分之一,比1978年增长近15倍,在全省名列前
Taicang County of Jiangsu Province is located on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, facing the mouth of the Yangtze River to the east, connecting Shanghai to the south, Kunshan to the west, and Changshu to the north. The county has a population of 441,000. The county is affiliated to the leadership of Suzhou City and has 24 townships under its jurisdiction. The area of arable land is 65.4 million mu, which is mainly planted with rice, cotton, rapeseed and wheat. In 1989, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the county was 336 million yuan, and rural residents distributed 1125 yuan per capita. Garlic is a traditional product and high-quality product in agricultural and sideline products of Taicang County. It has a long history of planting. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Party Central Committee, the garlic planting area in Taicang County has been continuously expanding, reaching 6.5 million mu in 1987, accounting for one-tenth of the cultivated area, nearly 15 times more than that in 1978, ranking first in the province.
