中国参与世博会很早,独特的东方文化和东方魅力一直吸引着众多的世博会参与者。外国把持阶段早期的世博会,中国并不是以政府的形式参与的。1851和1869年的伦敦万国博览会上,与其说是中国参与世博会,倒不如说是英国商会代替中国参加世博会,甚至第一届上出现的中国政府官员,也是由英国商会邀请的一个中国船员扮演的。中国的展品以丝绸、瓷器、茶叶、刺绣等手工艺品,以及煤炭、铁矿石等自然资源为主,主要是向西方国家展示一个广大、富饶的中国,以吸引更多的西方目光转向中国。
China participated in the World Expo very early, the unique oriental culture and oriental charm has always attracted a large number of Expo participants. In the early stage of foreign domination of the World Expo, China did not participate in the form of government. In 1851 and 1869, the London World Exposition was not so much a part of China’s participation in the World Expo as the British Chamber of Commerce instead of China participating in the World Expo. Even the first Chinese government officials appeared and the Chinese crew invited by the British Chamber of Commerce . The exhibits in China are mainly handicrafts such as silk, porcelain, tea, embroidery and natural resources such as coal and iron ore, mainly to show western countries a vast and fertile China in order to attract more western eyes to China.
