As a result of the sudden large amount of gas leakage caused by salt spray and caving, the mining of the Upper Kham potash deposit has been complicated. Because of methane and hydrogen in the gas component of the leak, explosive atmosphere is formed in the roadway. This kind of phenomenon has serious harm to people and machinery and will hinder the mechanization of mining operations. During the mining period, the gas content of the overburden has been studied primarily in potash mines.
