The first annual academic meeting of China Metallurgical Society was held in Chengdu, Sichuan from November 14 to November 18, 1984. One hundred thirty-six delegates from the research institutes, design institutes, institutions of higher learning and factories affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgy attended the conference. The conference received about 100 papers (58 in information research, 12 in literature retrieval, 15 in periodical editing and 15 in intelligence management) and 50 in the conference.
