Mr. Yan Lao, a folk medicine practitioner who entered Lianjia, is the third generation descendant of the family of Chinese medicine practitioners. During his reign in the Republic of China, his grandfather used to be a doctor at Xi’an Bacaotang. Under the influence of his grandfather, his father also learned Chinese medicine for common diseases. At the beginning of the liberation, when the People’s Liberation Army advanced into the northwest, the enthusiastic young people flocked to join the army. The 20-year-old father also joined the army and went north to Xinjiang. He built a 7-member medical school in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region as a Chinese medicine doctor. He worked for more than 30 years at the age of 78.
