国共双方对重庆谈判都高度重视，派出得力人员组成谈判代表团。中共代表团以毛泽东为首，辅以了解全局、富有谈判经验、机智灵活、刚柔相济的周恩来、王若飞。国民党代表团由蒋介石操纵，指派政治上老练通达，能严格按照自己的既定方针办事，且主张用政治方法解决中共问题的资深官员组成。双方代表团的最佳组合，预示着谈判斗争的激烈艰难但亦有所结果。
Both Kuomintang and Communist Party attaches great importance to the negotiation in Chongqing and dispatched competent personnel to form a negotiating delegation. The CPC delegation headed by Mao Zedong, supplemented by Zhou Enlai and Wang Ruofei, who understand the overall situation, have rich experience in negotiation, are tactful, flexible and supple. The Kuomintang delegation was controlled by Chiang Kai-shek and appointed senior officials politically sophisticated and able to act strictly in accordance with its established principle and advocated a political solution to the CPC’s question. The best combination of the two delegations signals the fierce but difficult outcome of the negotiation struggle.
