近年来,台湾岛内投资环境持续恶化,许多企业纷纷向岛外寻求新的发展空间。在这股海外投资热潮中,统一、东帝士、长荣、宏基、华隆等著名集团企业扮演着重要角色。统一集团:据点遍及各地。统一集团曾经夸下海口,要成为全球规模最大的食品企业。统一集团为取得海外市场,近年来积极筹划对外投资设厂或购并海外企业。该集团把投资重点放在亚洲市场,据点已遍及亚洲各地,如泰国、印尼、越南、菲律宾等。在两岸经贸互动逐渐频繁之际,统一集团更是看准祖国大陆这一新兴市场,大举投入,至今投资项目已逾10个。
