能源是人类从事各种经济活动的原动力,是生产发展的主要标志,是关系国家经济命脉的全局问题。世界各国对能源问题都非常重视,例如美国近几届总统都亲自抓能源。在各种新能源中,世界能源专家公认,核能是目前及今后几十年内唯一已商业化并能大规模(指按亿吨煤当量计算)应用的新能源。核能利用目前还处于萌芽时期,其作用远未发挥,这种拥有巨大潜力的新能源在人类面前展现出一幅新社会的前景,我们在进行社会主义现代化建设中应当充分估计到核能的这种革命意义。
Energy is the driving force for mankind to engage in various economic activities, the major symbol of production and development, and the overall issue concerning the lifeline of the country’s economy. Every country in the world attaches great importance to energy issues. For example, the past U.S. presidents have personally tried to grasp energy sources. Among various new energy sources, world energy experts recognize that nuclear energy is the only new energy source that has been commercialized and can be applied on a large scale (in terms of coal equivalent per 100 million tons) for the present and the coming decades. The use of nuclear energy is still in its infancy and its role is far from being fulfilled. This new energy with great potential shows the prospect of a new society before mankind.
