This article outlines the major events, basic elements, and trends in the U.S. military transformation. He believes that the U.S. military transformation involves a wide range of fields. Its top-level design has the advanced capability of “surpassing one generation.” It has a strong inheritance from the previous military changes and follows a pragmatic approach of “spiral development.” At the same time, the United States also has some problems in its military restructuring, such as restrictions on international and domestic political environments, restrictions on economic capabilities, and technical obstacles.
