张恭庆先生1936年5月出生于上海市,1954年上海市南洋模范中学毕业后进入北京大学数学力学系学习,1959年毕业后一直在北京大学数学系、数学科学学院任教.1959–1978年任北京大学数学力学系助教,由于其突出的贡献,1978年5月和1983年2月,由北京大学分别破格晋升为副教授和教授,1991年当选中国科学院院士,1994年当选第三世界科学院(现发展中国家科学院)院士.
Mr. Zhang Gongqing was born in Shanghai in May 1936. After graduating from Shanghai Nanyang Model High School in 1954, he studied in the Department of Mathematical Mechanics of Peking University and taught at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences of Peking University in 1959. From 1959 to 1978, The Department of Mathematical Mechanics of the University, due to its outstanding contribution, was promoted to an associate professor and professor by Peking University in May 1978 and February 1983, respectively, and was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and a member of the Third World Academy of Sciences Chinese Academy of Sciences) academicians.
