A general mathematical model with its governing equations in dimensionless forms has beendeveloped to describe the removal of hydrogen sulfide with impregnated activated carbon.Anapproximate relationship between the sulfur capacity and the reaction time in a single carbon pellet isobtained, and criterion to ascertain the rate controlling step of the process can then be deduced.Inthe meantime, the choice of the appropriate oxygen concentration and the principle to be followedare also described.
