邓小平开放理论是在总结社会主义国家经验教训基础上形成的，它以解决中国社会实际问题为中心，以服务于社会主义现代化事业为鲜明主题。贯彻开放理论有利于吸收世界先进文明成果，加快社会主义建设步伐，为如期实现三步走战略提供重要条件。要使对外开放进一步健康发展，必须坚定不移搞好社会主义，必须教育人民坚持四项基本原则。
Deng Xiaoping’s theory of opening up was formed on the basis of summing up the experiences and lessons of the socialist countries. It centered on solving the actual problems of Chinese society and serving for the cause of socialist modernization as a distinct theme. Carrying out the theory of opening up is conducive to absorbing the achievements of the advanced civilizations in the world and accelerating the pace of socialist construction, providing important conditions for the three-step strategy to be implemented as scheduled. In order to further opening up to the outside world for sound development, we must unswervingly carry out socialism and must educate the people in upholding the four cardinal principles.
