埃及埃及国立图书馆是中东最古老、规模最大的图书馆,1870年由文化大臣阿里·穆巴拉克创立。初创时藏书仅3万册,现有图书150万册,其中欧文书约40万册,阿拉伯语的手写本7万册,阿拉伯语的纸莎草纸文献约3千册。根据1954年和1962年制定的呈缴本法令,凡是国内的公开出版物,必须向国立图书馆缴送10份。由于藏书逐年增加,服务不断扩大,遂决定在尼罗河畔增盖馆舍,新馆于1970年峻工,可容纳图书500万册。埃及国立图书馆在开罗市有12个分馆,其活动主要有三:收集和
Egypt The Egyptian National Library is the oldest and largest library in the Middle East. Founded in 1870 by Ali Minister Mubarak, Minister of Culture.
